Visionaries, Sleeper Fund & The Police State
A lot of folks did very well when I was picking stocks at the AllAllan blog, so for old times sake, let's mix things up this weekend with three stocks worth looking at from an outside-the-box point of view.
Tesla (TSLA) and Ark Innovation Fund (ARKK)
I have made no secret of my belief that Elon Musk, with his Space X and Tesla, is the visionary of our time, just as it was Bezos and Amazon in the 2000's and Jobs with Apple in the 1990's. If you include Buy & Hold stocks in your account(s), there is no other stock on the board that I like better for a 5 year investment horizon than Tesla. The stock is also the number one largest holding of a little noticed stock ETF, Ark Innovation Fund (ARKK), which is up 65% in the past 12 months. What do they know that the Tesla/Elon Musk haters don't? How about how to make money in the stock market.
ARKK is a great, and diversified way to own TSLA, as it is its largest single holding (7.7%), and along with SSYS, NTLA, TWTR and ILMN make up close to one-third of Ark's portfolio.
Axon Enterprise (AAXN)
I found Axon literally in my own backyard, just about 5 miles up Scottsdale Road. They make tasers, body cameras and basically all things "police state." Nonetheless, a Wave 5 Buy Signal (see below) is a Wave 5 Buy Signal. This trade sports a 1:4 risk:reward profile (stop @ $55). Ethical investors beware that the company does feed off of mayhem in the streets...but some might argue in a good way. Option traders can look at the Dec $65 calls, trading at about $8.50 and worth $35 if AAXN hits its EW target by December.
AllAllan
For those who remember, AllAllan was created in 2004, way before Blue Line Trading, and AllanTrends before that. It was my attempt at a free-flowing stream of consciousness focused mostly on making money in the stock market, with occasional muses on the state of life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. I needed an outlet, a place share ideas where the only cost of admission was having to sit through one of my occasional rants, whether it be about Jim Cramer, a newly ex-girlfriend, or the idiot next door. AllAllan was it, and I miss it, so I'm bringing it back starting right here and now with Visionaries, Sleeper Funds & The Police State.
