There was a time overnight last night when the equity markets were tanking between 1% (SPX Futures) and 3% (Nasdaq Futures) due to news reports of a resumption of hostilities in the Middle East. Though it has mostly all been recovered by the time the market opened this morning, it was a strategic reminder of what is possible to the short side in times like these. Gold too was way up, although it has retained some of its gains in the light of day. With over 750% of total gains on this March 1st trade, this roll-over bet is essentially risk free.
