The tables below contain the top 25 performing trades generated by the PRO and Premium Services over the past 12 months. The numbers are staggering, but that tells little about overall profitability, unless, there is a common thread running through these trades that can be identified and exploited going forward. There is. Of the 50 combined trades all but five share one of two common characteristics, (1) TSLA trade, or, (2) trade taken during steep 30% plunge in the market between February-March. These are the two categories of trades that cannot be missed. TSLA speaks for itself and we will be trading TSLA aggressively over the next 3-5 years. The strategy of having two positions, one long-term and one trading, is still the preferred approach. If you have to choose one, make it long term. YTD the shares are up 230%. The second best trade on both tables is the initial long-term call option, the Jan 2021 $420C. In other words, going "long term" with TSLA is not leaving much on the table. Catching a steep market decline is more problematical, but the odds of an imminent decline as deep and fast, or deeper and faster, than the one we saw earlier this year are increasing by all measures day after day. In fact, by this time next week one may have incontrovertibly begun. These two trade categories are both setting up to generate new trades. TSLA has consolidated after its earnings driven rally and can generate a new Buy at any time. That's not to say it has to, or that it will be a "Top 25" trade, but the conditions for a new Buy opportunity are coming together. The general market is giving off signs every day that something is terribly wrong internally and it is on the cusp of a new leg down. It may seem like the "same old, same old" chorus, but that was pretty much the case all of January-February before this year's big drop. Virtually all of the Weekend Updates from mid January through early March focused on two key trading themes: TSLA and the spread of Covid and how it would adversely affect the market. Here we are again...on the verge of a new leg down. Expect new "Top 25" tables in about three months. The Big Picture Dow Jones Industrial Average Russell 2000
