This will be an abbreviated update, since the market seems to be chugging along in an abbreviated fashion since Christmas and now into the New Year holiday period. Nonetheless, the most recent trades in both Premium and PRO Services, short TLT (Dec 11) and long GRRR (Dec 23) respectively, have fared well.: TLT Sell Signal (Premium Service) TLT's downward tailspin is starting to drag stocks down with it. If this continues, things can get out of control quickly. See QQQ chart below. TLT Puts GRRR Buy Signal (PRO Service) GRRR Calls Note: Entry Dec 23rd: Aggressive, speculative trades sometimes payoff, even in down markets. The Week Ahead Another middle-of-the-week market closure makes prognostication problematic. A good time to post my Stock of The Year for 2025. I've given enough hints on the past few weeks so it won't come as a surprise, or maybe it will. Just when you think you know me, you don't, so expect it mid-week (unless I change my mind). The post-new year's market into January expiration should be something else. I can make the case for hard down as persuasive as hard up and as things sit this last weekend in 2024, I haven't a clue...or maybe just a small clue: TLT is down because interest rates are up. Take a look at the longer-term chart of the 10 Year Treasury Note Yield: TNX (Weekly) If yields are indeed in Wave iii of 5 up, it doesn't bode well for the market, near or intermediate term. One last observation: Friday was a down day across the board, stocks, bonds, gold, US dollar, all down. This could be a one-off anomaly, or, the beginning of a "nowhere to hide," trend going into the 1st quarter of 2025. If the latter, we will become more and more aggressive to the downside. For now, its too early and too holiday trading muddled, to make that case...but its out there, in the wings, just waiting for the right headline to trigger hard down. QQQ 240 Minute Trend Model The QQQ 240 Minute Trend Model triggered a Sell Signal on Dec 19th. Despite what should be a Christmas rally, stocks are struggling. Friday's close was right on the lower channel trend line and we are looking for a recovery, but if instead we get acceleration down, be ready to pounce on SQQQ calls.
