The TSLA chart above shows bullish share price momentum in the 10 days preceding earnings announcements, year-to-date. The numbers show a roughly 15-20% rise in share price based upon the build-up of positive expectations. TSLA's next earnings announcement isn't scheduled until October 28th, but what is scheduled is the 2020 Annual Meeting of Stockholders and Battery Day on September 22nd. There is rampant speculation, even more than has been attached to recent earnings' announcements, as to what will be unveiled at the event, but even on the lower end of expectations, it is shaping up to be exactly as Elon Musk described three months ago: Musk sets date for 'one of the most exciting days in Tesla's history' On Friday, in what must be considered a purposely understated reference to "one of the most exciting days in Tesla's history," Musk tweeted out: "Many exciting things will be unveiled on Battery Day 9/22" Without getting into speculation about what may or may not be unveiled at that event, based on YTD price action into earnings the next 10 days should show some upward momentum. A 20% rise from Friday's close would put TSLA at about $450 on September 22nd. Price action could also be subject to, "buy the rumor. sell the news," suggesting a nimble exit. Since this would be a special situational timing trade, a temporary option positioning need not go any further out than the next six weeks. The idea is to capture bullish momentum going into the 22nd, not to roll the dice on what the news may be and be out at market close on the day of the event (meeting starts at 1:30 pm PDT). Good luck with that. TSLA Battery Day Call Menu
