AMGN reports earnings after today's Close. There is no "right" way to play earnings announcements. The trend signals are on the right side of earnings gaps about half the time, that means wrong side about half the time. The trading alternatives range from exiting some to all of the trade before the close or trade the signal as is. The official scorekeeper, the published portfolio, will hold through earnings, but that's more due to complications in reporting and tracking non-rule based exits than anything strategic. Personally, I usually exit about half my position, especially Longs. In any case, AMGN is down this morning, so no hurry to make any changes to the current Short position.
