The S&P 500 is currently down just under 4%. That makes this a good time to review the trading curbs-circuit breakers that kick-in should certain thresholds be reached. Trading is halted as per the following schedule, all basis the value of the S&P 500 index: Level 1: -7.00% = 15-minute trading halt; Level 2: -13% = 15-minute trading halt; Level 3: -20% = trading is suspended for the rest of the day. Exception: Drops that occur after 3:25pm EDT are not subject to any trading halts. Finally, I am looking at several key levels that would confirm that the new leg down toward the March lows has begun. The Dow has so far today at its worse dropped 1200 points from yesterday's close, with a low so far today at 25,812. Breaking that low by 100 points or more (Dow down 1300) should do it. I'll post some charts later in the day.
