Tesla reports earnings today at 6:30 pm EDT (3:30 pm PDT). Here is a good summary of the salient points: Tesla Q1 2020 earnings call: What Wall St is expecting. Since we have devoted so much enthusiasm and trading capital to TSLA this year, more practicable for our purposes is what to do with core and/or trading positions currently being held. What we have learned more than anything about earnings calls and current holds is that there is no "right" answer, other than in this case, be prepared for anything from +/- $100 at tomorrow's Open. Core positions should remain untouched, trading positions should be trimmed only to the extent that $100 move against the stock doesn't break the bank. If it will, trim back to where it won't. My forecast for Jan 2021 is still $1,000 - $1,250, but how TSLA gets there could involve some rough off-road detours. Today's earnings report could be one of those excursions, or, could be an on-ramp for 0-60 (read: $1,000-1,250) in 2.5 seconds.
