Thursday Update: Trailing Stops and Update On Special Situation Stocks

Trailing Stops
In this weekend's update I'll go into a little more detail about the new trailing profit taking stop. Since I have received so many questions about how to implement the stop, and since this stop is such an important enhancement to the system, it deserves a little more explanation and instruction on how best to use it. I will explain when the stop kicks in and how it will decrease as profits rise, protecting more of what are sometimes very large profits.
The Short-term table below has been coded for implementing the new exit strategy. As you can see a new column, "Blue Line Trading Stop," has a hard stop price level that should be used for exiting trades. The Intermediate Term table is now being coded to do the same. More on how this level has been calculated in the Weekend Update.
Special Situation Stocks
AVXL - The trend-signal line has had this stock short since early July @ $5.19. It is trading at $4.00 today, so the signal did avoid about a 20% drop in price. Since they have promising trials ongoing for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Epilepsy, Stroke and Dementia, if and when AZXL goes Long, buy it. For now, either hold a small position for overnight good news along the way, or, wait for the eventual Long signals and get in. This is a baby-boomer-market health company.
GBTC - Running up with Bitcoin, already up 16% on the July 21st Buy just two weeks ago. A great trading stock, nice trends both ways, but at the cost of higher than usual risk. As Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians puts it, "No risk it, no biscuit."
Classic & Prime Trading Portfolios
***Note that the above Classic performance table has not yet been converted to the new trading stop strategy.
